FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

VANADIUM AND OTHER MASTER-ALLOY PRODUCTION RESUMES

DANBURY, Connecticut, November 2, 2007 (Updated February 2, 2008), International Specialty Alloys (ISA) restarted the facilities that produce Stratcor® vanadium-aluminum at its New Castle, Pennsylvania plant after repairing and cleaning up the damage caused by an explosion on August 29, 2007. Stratcor, Inc., the Strategic Minerals Corporation subsidiary responsible for the production and marketing of vanadium alloys in the United States, has reapproved ISA’s production facility. The vanadium-aluminum currently being produced has been recertified by titanium customers who use it to strengthen titanium parts in critical aircraft applications.

During the shutdown, Stratcor, Inc., arranged for alternate vanadium-aluminum production that met the needs of its titanium customers until production could be resumed at the ISA plant.

On February 2, 2008, International Specialty Alloys restarted the facilities that produce non-vanadium master alloys used in aerospace applications. These facilities, which produce molybdenum, columbium, and other master alloys, were severely damaged by the explosion and have been completely rebuilt and modernized. The master alloys produced at the International Specialty Alloys plant are marketed by Stratcor, Inc.

Updated information on the availability of Stratcor® master alloys can be obtained by contacting the Stratcor, Inc. office in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania at +1 412 787 4500 or requesting information on the Contact Us form on this Web site.
