EVRAZ APPOINTS VICE PRESIDENT, VANADIUM
MOSCOW, November 7, 2007 —
Evraz Group S.A. ('Evraz') announces that Mr. Daniel C. Harris was nominated to become Vice President, Vanadium at the Evraz Group. In his new position Mr. Harris will report directly to Mr. Alexander Frolov, Evraz Group's CEO and President of EvrazHolding LLC. Mr. Harris' key responsibility will be to set up the business of the newly formed vanadium division and subsequently oversee Evraz's various vanadium operations and assets.
Mr. Harris is currently Vice President of Operations of Stratcor, Inc., responsible for U.S. vanadium operations at Strategic Minerals Corporation, part of the Evraz Group. In his new position, he will move to Evraz's offices in Moscow.
Mr. Daniel Harris brings more than 30 years of experience in the vanadium and metals industry into the management team of the group. After graduating from the University of Nevada in 1977 with a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering, he joined Union Carbide Corp. in Grand Junction, Colorado, where he spent four years working on various mining projects, including those involving vanadium.
In 1981, Mr. Harris moved to Union Carbide's vanadium plant in Hot Springs, Arkansas, where he spent 16 years in various production management positions. In 1986 Union Carbide's vanadium business was bought out by the company's management to form what is now Strategic Minerals Corporation.
In 1997, Mr. Harris became Managing Director of Vametco Minerals Corporation, a mining and vanadium-making subsidiary of Strategic Minerals located in Brits, South Africa — a position he held through 1999.
After working in the capacity of Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Strategic Minerals' Connecticut headquarters from 2000, Mr. Harris returned to Hot Springs in 2002 to assume his current position.
