MINERALS APPOINTS
NEW
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
DANBURY, Connecticut,
November 3, 2004-
Strategic Minerals Corporation of Danbury, Connecticut, announced today
that Heinrich Enslin, its President, will also become the company's
Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2005. Mr. Enslin will
succeed William G. Beattie, who will continue as Chairman of the Board
of Directors of the company, a major producer of vanadium alloys for
the steel, titanium, and chemical industries.
Mr. Enslin will also continue
as President of Stratcor, Inc., the company's U.S.-based subsidiary.
The new Chief Executive Officer
has been associated with the vanadium business since 1982 when he was
appointed Managing Director of UCAR Minerals -- now Strategic Minerals'
Vametco Minerals subsidiary in South Africa. Prior to that, he worked
for 10 years in various management positions in the Carbon Electrode
Business of Union Carbide. He was appointed President of Strategic Minerals'
U.S. Vanadium subsidiary in 1997 and President of Strategic Minerals
Corporation and Chief Operating Officer in 2000.
"I'm very pleased that
my successor is someone for whom I have the greatest respect,"
said Mr. Beattie. "We have worked together since meeting in South
Africa in the mid '70s. His record of leadership, integrity and respect
for others has been the hallmark of his career."
